The Ayurvedic Tradition of Hair Oiling
Hair care can be more than washing, styling and repairing.
In Ayurvedic tradition, hair oiling is a ritual of nourishment, patience and care. It is a way to connect with the scalp, the roots and the senses.
At SŌMA Atelier, we reinterpret this practice as a modern hair and scalp ritual for contemporary wellbeing.
A ritual for the scalp
The scalp is often forgotten in modern hair care. We focus on the hair we can see, but the ritual begins at the roots.
Hair oiling invites us to massage the scalp slowly, using the fingertips to encourage a moment of relaxation and presence.
The gesture is calming, grounding and deeply sensorial.
Amla and botanical tradition
Amla is one of the most valued botanicals in Ayurvedic-inspired hair care. Traditionally associated with strength, vitality and healthy-looking hair, it is often used in rituals focused on scalp and root nourishment.
Together with botanical oils and aromatic ingredients, amla-inspired rituals create a rich and meaningful hair care experience.
How to practise hair oiling
Apply a small amount of oil to the scalp.
Massage gently with fingertips.
Move slowly across the hairline, crown and nape.
Leave on before washing.
Use once or twice per week depending on your routine.
The ritual can also be paired with a calm evening, a warm towel or a few minutes of quiet breathing.
The SŌMA approach
Keshya Hair & Scalp Oil is designed as a pre-wash ritual for scalp and hair.
It brings together the sensory pleasure of oil, the tradition of botanical care and the elegance of a modern wellness ritual.
Because hair care should not feel rushed.
It should feel intentional.
